“Throw me straight and I’ll fly great.”
FirstFlier Talking Points
1. It’s long enough so the thrower can see the tip by their eye. It has been
scaled to fit the 95th percentile 10 year old (about 5’2”). The 450g
Finnflier showed how seeing the tip by the eye helps young throwers
learn alignment and straight throws, and the same principle applies
here.
2. The FirstFlier is light enough that it’s easy on the arm and shoulder.
3. The FirstFlier is aerodynamically balanced for flights just like the 450
gram Aerojav and bigger javelins, like the 600g and 800g javelins. This
makes for the 250g Aerojav to start the PROGRESSION of learning to fly
the javelin.
4. The rubber tip and safety button on the tail make this javelin suitable for
young throwers.
5. The shaft has just the right amount of flex, so the “feel” of this javelin is
similar to the 450g Aerojav the athlete will encounter as they age up.
6. The “feel” is further engineered to resemble the larger javelins by having
a similar Moment of Inertia, basically a similar distribution of weight along
the shaft.
7. The FirstFlier flies just right when thrown through the point, and it stalls
and drops just like the 450g Finnflier when the thrower misses the point.
This feedback is easy to see and greatly helps learning to throw straight.
8. The FirstFlier has been tested for three years.
9. The rubber grip is just the right size for the youth throwers.
10. The spiral label has three ways to learn to throw - a QR code that takes
you to our FirstFlier training video, a little sequence illustration for a quick
glance at how a good throw looks, and our slogan, “Throw Me Straight and
I’ll Fly Great”. We want kids to learn!
